From the very start of our plans to honor APTA’s 100th anniversary, it was clear that the milestone presented a twofold opportunity: Not only could we celebrate, but those celebrations could raise funds to support increased diversity, equity, and inclusion within the physical therapy profession. The idea caught on — including among entities that stepped up to help sponsor several of the year's gatherings.

One such gathering is something different for the association — a formal anniversary gala, held at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 10. Any net proceeds from the event will be directed to the APTA Campaign for Future Generations, the association's initiative to leverage its anniversary to raise funds to strengthen efforts that will help make the physical therapy profession reflect the diversity of the society it serves.

"Individual donations have made the Campaign for Future Generations a success already, but our sponsors have made it possible to honor our association’s centennial at the same time," said Carmen Elliott, APTA vice president of diversity, equity, and inclusion and executive director of the Physical Therapy Fund. "The sponsors' engagement is helping member commitment to a more diverse profession shine through."

If you’d like to support the fundraising effort, you can make a direct donation or purchase a centennial-branded item from the APTA Store (now offering 15% off).

Sponsors for the Centennial Gala include:

Premier Sponsors
Healthcare Providers Service Organization/CNA
Select Medical
Net Health

Patron Sponsor
MGH Institute of Health Professions School of Physical Therapy

Table Sponsors
American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists
Laurel Road
University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences

The gala is one of several APTA Centennial Celebration events. To support a safe series of events, all participants must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative test within 72 hours of event registration.
